Yes or No to Scarves With White
With great risk
Comes great reward
Trust me, I know, a white scarf can be scary. One of my worst scarf fears is having a corner fly up in the wind, hit my face and suddenly resemble a Marilyn Monroe cocktail napkin (except not as cute).
But a crisp, clean, crisp, contrasting pop of white really does it for me like no other color. Plus just as many people appreciate black in scarf, for its easy-to-match qualities, I think the same should go for white.
So Where Is the Divide?
When I used to work at an Auction House, as the Director of the Luxury Handbag & Accessories Division, it was always the Hermes scarves with large areas of white that would fetch the lowest prices at auction. Even in Pristine condition.
I’d have to image that most people are not willing to invest as much in a scarf that can be stained in one fell swoop. But as a proponent of “life is short, buy the shoes” or in this case the scarf, I can’t hold back out of fear.
The Pros: Crisp, Vibrant, Neutral, Elevated, Special
The Cons: Delicate, Temperamental, Stainable

I especially love styling them with white in my outfit and have linked a tutorial at the bottom of this page about styling an Hermes Scarf with White and how to do it.
