Why I Love This Pattern: This is such a fun take on the classic Ex-Libris pattern. As a long time Meryl Streep and Nancy Meyers fan, seeing the “Ex-Libris” pattern in “It’s Complicated” gives the best seal of approval. Although this version isn’t the exact one from the movie— what is an ex-libris? It’s a bookplate which is a label that personalizes the owner’s books in their library. “Ex-Libris” is Latin and translates to 'from the library of”. In 1923, Emile‑Maurice Hermes, the grandson of the founder of the house, chose this Ex-Libris as his own and it became a symbol of Hermes.
